These are the pieces exhibited at my first gallery show, held at Arcadia Art Gallery, Toronto, August 31, 2024, through September 8, 2024. There were three modalities presented. I began work on the first modality, Twisted Geometries (formerly Digital Origami), in the 80's, using Hewlett-Packard plotters, where ever I could beg, borrow or steal time on them. I went on to create a Virtual Plotter library in C, on my Osborne I CP/M machine (which I still have), to print on my Epson dot-matrix printer (which I no longer have).

All of my current work, done since 2015 or so, uses JavaScript, Node, SVG and React. Plans are to replace the React front-end with Nuxt.

The Knots modality is based on a set of four tiles. The original tiles were a set of black and white right-angle triangles designed by an 18th century French monk named Sebastien Truchet. These were then revisited by an American mathematician named Cyril Stanley Smith.

Inspired by a posting on reddit, I developed the Knots modality, and added the path following functionality, as well as two different colouring functionalities.

I experimented with with differing ratios of tiles; which led to an effect called Patches, where I can specify specific shapes (circles and rectangles, so far) with a given set of tiles.

We can expect more experimentation in this modality in the future.
